Everything and nothing means something.
Life is a constant flow of pattern and form. Some we recognize, some we choose to ignore others we overlook. We pick and mix our reality. Chaos, order, symmetry and chance all play a part in exposing the pattern, at times we recognize and select an element - all things exist in a constant flux that we call life.
Both Chaos and order exist alongside one another, patterns waiting to be seen or already recognized in our own history in the making.High and low culture, old and new, good and bad, hard and soft, abstraction and figurative, analogue and digital - all wrapped up in one big canvas we call reality.
My work taps into this flux to produce nodal points that stop the motion and freeze these patterns to map the pulse of our existence. We are living an ever faster, ever changing existence, there is no constant. A new reality of chopped, layered, hacked and glitched by our own take on our surroundings - We all belong to this Pick and Mix existence.
Employing an experimental approach that defies conventional norms, these artworks embody an expressive language that defies easy categorization. Materials are wielded in unconventional ways, inviting unexpected interplays of texture, form, and visual dynamics. Gestures, both deliberate and spontaneous, animate the surfaces, imbuing them with a visceral energy that captivates the viewer's gaze.
The interplay between abstraction and figuration becomes a fertile ground for artistic exploration, as these paintings oscillate between realms of subjective interpretation and glimpses of recognizable forms. They exist as visual riddles, inviting contemplation and inviting viewers to navigate the intricate pathways between the familiar and the enigmatic.
From a world of mass/miss communication comes a liminal state of confusion and ordered chaos. Image, colour and fragmented language are distributed across surfaces creating a unique vocabulary. Adopting an unorthodox, experimental approach to the use of materials, gestures and form, this concept is explored in audaciously scaled paintings that oscillate between abstraction and figuration.
Emerging from a world characterized by widespread mass/miscommunication and information overload, a state of liminal confusion and orchestrated chaos takes shape. Within this paradigm, the convergence of imagery, color, and fragmented language is purposefully disseminated across various surfaces, giving rise to a distinct visual lexicon. Embracing an unorthodox and audacious artistic ethos, the exploration of this concept manifests in boldly scaled paintings that fluidly traverse the boundaries between abstraction and figuration.
As an artist I attempt to captures the zeitgeist of a world characterized by fractured communication, fragmented imagery, and an incessant barrage of stimuli. In the intermingling of confusion and order, these paintings offer a captivating visual narrative, compelling us to reevaluate our perceptions, question established conventions, and immerse ourselves in the captivating dance between chaos and clarity.
Entering into the pattern recognition of life through process and dialogue, the work relates to the rich fabric of contemporary life. Picking at the threads of existence and enhancing this fabric of life in its own way.
